Kia Sedona 2.9 CRDi GS
Anyone who tells you size doesn’t matter has some issues of their own to deal with, because it really does!
If you were transporting a couple of adults and a handful of kids along with all their belongings, then space, size and comfort are key factors to consider.
If you cram that lot into a small people carrier, the arguments will break out within the first mile and by the time you reach your destination patience will have worn thin and scraps will have broken out in the back.
However, there is a solution to this dilemma in the shape of the Kia Sedona. The seven-seater boasts oodles of creature comforts, plenty of space and a light and airy cabin that will keep the pickiest of children happy – even those relegated to the third row of seats!
In fairness, the Sedona has been based on producing a very practical family vehicle, so the appeal to the I-can’t-put-my-baseball-cap-on-the-right-way-round will be minimal, but the attractions will appeal to a far wider market.
It’s a fact that families in the UK are getting larger and so are their entertainment requirements and thanks to Kia, the Sedona boasts room for all the family complete with all their required attachments.
The sliding rear doors and easily-manoeuvred seats make accessibility a complete breeze and despite being a big people carrier, the Sedona handles surprisingly well.
Admittedly, it won’t leave many vehicles standing at the lights, but the 2.9-litre engine delivers ample power in and around town and out on the more open road.
The high quality features on the GS manual model also impress with a CD player, air conditioning, tinted windows, shopping hook, 10 cup holders and removable seats in rows two and three to name just a few.
And as one would expect, the safety spec is good too with anti-lock brakes, electronic brakeforce distribution, impact beams and six airbags as standard.
There is a host of choices for would-be buyers too with various engine sizes, fuel types and drive systems to choose from… so, now tell me size doesn’t matter.
