Peugeot opens up its 108 to the world
May 7, 2014
Peugeot’s latest model is a certain winner – it’s an open and shut case!
For the much anticipated 108 hits the streets in July and will be the first car of its type from the French brand to sport a retractable fabric roof.
The car will be available in three and five-door Hatch or TOP! Cabrio body styles and with a choice of two low-emissions petrol engines, including the recently unveiled PureTech three-cylinder unit.
The 108 price-tag will start from just £8,245 on the road and there will be four trim levels to choose from – Access, Active, Allure and Feline.
Buyers like to personalise their vehicles these days and Peugeot is capitalising on that theory by offering an extensive range of colours, ambiences, trims and themes.
Other top notch features include a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with DAB radio, Mirror Screen with MirrorLink technology and Bluetooth connectivity for smartphones plus steering wheel-mounted controls.
Access is the only trim grade available on three-door models but it comes fitted with LED daytime running lights, remote central locking, USB/aux connection, steering wheel-mounted controls, six airbags, ESP and two rear ISOFIX mountings.
Active and Allure models really up the ante while the flagship Feline trim adds leather upholstery, chrome door handles and mirrors plus automatic dual zone air-con.
Meanwhile the retractable fabric roof on the 108 TOP! can be opened and closed electrically at any speed, but is only available in Active and Allure trims.
The car’s power comes via a 1.0-litre 68bhp petrol engine with 95g/km of carbon emissions (88g/km with Stop and Start), or a 1.2-litre PureTech VTi 82bhp unit with 99g/km of CO2.
A five-speed manual transmission is mated to both engines, with the option of a 2-Tronic semi-auto box on the 1.0-litre.
Prices range from £8,245 for the 108 Hatch 1.0-litre Access three-door to £10,345 for the 1.0-litre Active three-door version.
