Citroen C6 2.7 HDi V6
Citroen may not be a name that immediately springs to mind when it comes to luxury cars, but rather for the somewhat outrageous designs over the years.
But that has all changed, and although the Citroen name will always be associated with head-turning designs, it has now taken a giant leap into the luxury car market thanks to its C6 model.
Fact, it’s a huge car and binoculars could be essential to see the front of the bonnet from the rear seats, but every inch is crammed with quality features to make each journey that little bit special.
From the outside, the smooth streamlined curves clearly add to the aerodynamics of the C6, but once inside you cannot fail to be impressed by the sheer quality of craftsmanship and technology throughout.
Despite its size, manoeuvrability and parking are a complete breeze thanks to the all-round parking sensors so you can sit back and enjoy the overall experience.
There are heated seats that can be adjusted every which way to find the perfect position and then it can be memorised just in case you are crazy enough to lend the vehicle out to anyione else to drive – I don’t think so!
There is the impressive heads-up display system so you can see the vehicle’s speed on the screen directly in front of you and elsewhere the dashboard bears a striking resemblance to a flight deck with a deep central control station which is both uncluttered and easily operated.
Creature comforts include automatic windscreen wipers, a very efficient air-con system, great sounds system, cruise control and plenty more.
To be perfectly honest I struggled to find fault with this vehicle especially after taking it down a side road renowned for its bumpy surface. The C6 seemed to actually glide across the ground without noticing a single bump.
The 2.7-litre engine produced plenty of power and the C6 can be deceptively fast as it edges through the automatic transmission, so keep a watchful eye on that heads-up display or pay the price.
And when you add in the excellent safety specifications throughout the vehicle, it’s clear to see just why this Citroen is causing quite a stir in the industry, but for all the right reasons.
