Motorpoint celebrates record sales
April 15, 2014
Motorpoint has enjoyed its best month of trading since the company was founded in 1998.
The UK’s leading car supermarket sold an incredible 3,738 new and nearly new cars during March across its seven sites in Birmingham, Burnley, Chingford, Derby, Glasgow, Newport and Peterborough, smashing the previous record of 3,271 which was achieved last August.
This news comes on the back of a record-breaking last financial year for Motorpoint, during which time it sold more than 36,000 cars, up 21% on the previous financial year. This was equivalent to one sold every five minutes. At the same time, according to figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), new car registrations last month rose by 17.7% for the country as a whole.
Mark Carpenter, managing director of Motorpoint, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have completed our best trading month ever. We enjoyed a strong start to 2014 but even we never imagined we would sell so many cars in one month.”
