Chrysler
PT Cruiser

Standing for personal transportation, the PT Cruiser boasts very distinctive lines and upon its launch, demands left Chrsysler with a waiting list from hopeful buyers. Despite its high sides, the deceptively powerful PT Cruiser offers an excellent all-round drive.

Test Drive

Chrysler PT Cruiser 2.4 Limited Cabriolet

Okay so it looks like it belongs in a gangster movie, but still there’s no denying the Chrysler PT Cruiser is packed with character – so much so in fact that when first released, the waiting list was huge.

And the popularity was such that Chrysler has introduced a rag-top model too with a roof that can be raised or lowered at the push of a button.

But designers were given one clear directive and that was not to change the overall appearance of the vehicle that has stood out from the crowd for many years now.

The model supplied for my test drive boasted a 2.4-litre engine which delivered plenty of power both in and around town and out on the open road, although at times the acceleration seemed a little on the sluggish side.

Other than that, the drive is very pleasurable with excellent all-round visibility and it is also very quiet for a convertible thanks to thickened glass, streamlined contours and every possible noise reduction factor possible.

Comfort levels are good for up to four adults and there are plenty of top notch specifications to keep the driver and passengers alike entertained.

In fact, the list of features is very impressive considering the reasonable price tag.

The vehicle is fitted with alloy wheels, leather and suede faced seats – heated at the front – with lumbar support for the driver and a leather wrapped steering wheel to name but a few.

Many manufacturers would add these features to the extras list on the asking price, but Chrysler has included them in the standard price.

And the safety levels are good too with anti-lock brakes, numerous airbags and plenty more to keep buyers interested.
