Top tips on buying a used car
December 21, 2011
Choosing to buy a new car is a big decision, and with the current economic climate, purchasing a used car is likely to be more beneficial. Used cars differ to brand new vehicles in that they won’t lose a huge amount of value upon departure from the showroom. They’re often loads cheaper than new cars and therefore suit an array of budgets.
When buying a used car, there are certain things you must check. These include a full service history of the car, the inner and outer workings, if it requires or has passed a full MOT, how economical it is and also what it’s like to drive.
Other features to look at include its safety rating, its performance including the speed and power, running costs such as insurance and CO2, age and mileage of the vehicle including number of owners, its body style or colour, fuel type, gear box, engine size and also the style of doors and seats.
When looking for a used car, your best option is the internet. Simply search for a car dealer website alongside your postcode or town; eg, ‘used cars in Cardiff’, and you’ll find yourself at motors.co.uk in Cardiff for example. Relay any specific requests and you’ll receive a list of vehicles matching your criteria. This list will also state which dealer the vehicle is featured at, price and contact details.
