Fiat Punto Evo Sporting MultiAir 135BHP
With fresh new styling, eye-catching instrumentation and great performance the Fiat Punto Evo is guaranteed to tick all the boxes.
And when you add in the quality drive, excellent safety spec and very reasonable price tag of less than £14k, it’s clear to see just why Fiat is raving about this little beauty.
From the outside first impressions are very good with the vehicle’s smooth lines immediately catching your attention and further flair touches include body-coloured door handles and mirrors, re-modelled bumpers that provide more style and more protection and distinctive L-shaped rear lights.
And once inside, the Italian know-how for chic touches is also apparent with quality features at every turn.
The spacious and ergonomically-designed interior boasts a smart fascia that wraps around the air vents and central console giving the whole dashboard area a smooth flowing appearance.
The instrumentation has been given a fresh look with much larger electronic displays which are perfectly positioned for driver convenience.
Despite being a three-door, there is ample leg and head room for rear seat passengers who can travel in a fair amount of space and comfort, although being seated behind a taller driver would be a tad restricting.
The boot is fairly generously sized for a three-door hatchback and the rear seats offer a split-folding option if carrying larger, bulkier items.
Elsewhere, there are a number of smaller storage areas scattered throughout the cabin.
In and around town, the Punto Evo glided through the congested traffic and the Start&Stop system helped to save fuel in heavier build-ups. There is even a gear shift reminder to help assist the driver in the quest for better fuel economy.
Then, out on the faster roads, the Punto Evo could easily hold its own with more powerful vehicles and the 1.4-litre ultra-efficient MultiAir engine delivered plenty of power and acceleration when required. Road-holding was very good and the cabin noise was relatively quiet, even at higher speeds.
Fiat has fitted a very comprehensive list of safety features to the Punto Evo including anti-lock brakes with electronic brake force distribution, electronic stability programme with hill holder function, numerous airbags and plenty more besides.
All in all, the Evo has indeed evolved and this smart-looking, feature-packed model just loves to show what it can offer.
