BMW’s M5 Competition set to be a winner
May 9, 2018
BMW fans will be delighted to learn that an uprated version of the BMW M5 will be hitting the road before the end of the year unleashing a mighty 625bhp from its 4.4-litre V8 engine.
The extra 25bhp power boost over the 600bhp of the regular model – cuts the 0-60mph sprint time down to 3.3 seconds with 124mph reached in just 10.8 seconds which is 0.3 seconds quicker than before.
The car, which is due for release in September, is badged as the M5 Competition and carries a price-tag starting from £96,025, an increase of £9,000 over the standard M5.
The Competition version sits seven millimetres lower and comes with stiffened suspension to enhance ride quality close to the limits. It also boasts an M Sport exhaust system and – just like the M5 – is fitted with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive.
Fuel economy is 26.9mpg with emissions of 243g/km which means it is fractionally less economical than the 241g/km of the regular model.
