February 20, 2017
Skoda will be unveiling its fresh new Citigo city car at next month’s Geneva Motor Show and it comes with plenty of new kit.
The car boasts a newly-designed bonnet, radiator grille and fog lights with optional cornering function, plus new-look 15-inch alloy wheels.
The headlights are fitted with LED daytime running lights and the optional cornering function lights up the area the vehicle is turning into on junctions, switching on the left or right fog light when turning at speeds of up to 25 mph.
The interior has also been given a make-over with a revised speedo, rev counter and fuel gauge plus the seats now come with integrated headrests to provide better lateral support.
The radio and mobile phone functions can now be operated from an optional multi-function leather steering wheel, there is a high-resolution Maxi-DOT display as well as light and rain sensors.
New Citigo will be available with two three-cylinder petrol engines. The entry-level model is a 1.0-litre MPI petrol with 60bhp which can complete a 0-62mph sprint in 14.4 seconds, has a top speed of 100 mph and delivers combined fuel economy of 68.9mpg.
A higher-powered 75bhp version can reach 62mph from a standing start in 13.5 seconds, has a top speed of 107 mph and is rated at 68.9mpg. Skoda says the fuel figures apply to models with a five-speed manual gearbox and with a start-stop system and brake energy recovery.
The new Citigo will be available in S, SE and SE L trim levels.
