California dreaming with Ferrari

January 27, 2016

Ferrari is adding a new handling pack to its 200mph California model to give it a little more zip.

The California T Handling Speciale features upgraded damper settings and modified springs designed to deliver a sportier drive and the HS package also includes a new exhaust system.

This system delivers an exhaust sound that increases progressively as the engine speed increases and is certainly in keeping with the car’s more sporty character.

Overall performance figures for the front-engined V8 California are unchanged with the car retaining a 0-60 sprint time of just 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 197mph. Fuel consumption is a combined 26.9mpg with carbon emissions of 250g/km.

The HS option also introduces changes to the transmission software which Ferrari says result in faster up and down shifts allowing for greater acceleration exiting corners or on poorer road surfaces.

On the looks front, changes for the HS include a new front grille in matte finish and a rear diffuser in the same colour with matte black tailpipes. Special badging in the cockpit also indicates that the car carries the HS optional package.

Prices for the new model are still to be announced with the California T currently priced at £155,460, but the car will make its debut to the awaiting masses at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
