Jaguar XKR 5.0 coupe
Looking for a car with the absolute wow factor? Then look no further – the Jaguar XKR fit’s the bill perfectly.
With its jaw-dropping good looks complete with bullet-like streamlining, quad exhaust tailpipes and black wheels, plus an incredibly powerful 5.0-litre supercharged engine, this car has every modern device and luxury you could possibly wish for.
Admittedly, these sort of accolades always come at a price and this little beauty will set you back £77,900, and shares in oil would be advisable too as the combined fuel economy is just 23mpg.
But that minor glitch aside, the XKR is an amazing vehicle that would look at home on any superstar’s driveway.
The power at your disposal is blistering thanks to that 5.0-litre V8 engine. It boasts stats of 0-60mph in just 4.6 seconds and the vehicle has even been limited to 174mph.
Road-holding is exceptional even at higher speeds and the driver and passenger benefit from body-hugging sports seats that help to absorb all the bumps and dips as the car powers along.
It’s not exactly the quietest cabin ever, but the engine roar is certainly something to behold.
Creature comforts are plentiful such as heated or cooled seats, interior mood lighting, touch-screen technology including sat nav, climate control and excellent audio system compatible with all today’s devices, plus plenty more besides.
The driver and front seat passenger are treated to plenty of room and there is very limited space for two rear seat occupants.
But in reality, this car is all about performance, and boy it loves to show off. From the second you press the start button the engine roars into action like a caged lion and just the touch of the accelerator sends the revs surging with sound effects to match.
In and around town, the XKR moves gracefully alongside busy traffic and parking such a lengthy vehicle is made easier thanks to all-round sensors.
But it’s out on the faster roads that the car really bursts into action with immense power as it moves smoothly through the 6-spped automatic transmission.
Despite, the steeply sloped rear end, there is ample storage space in the boot and a couple of other generously sized options throughout the cabin.
Jaguar has kitted out the XKR with a very comprehensive list of safety specifications including anti-lock brakes, emergency brake assist, a whiplash reduction system, numerous airbags, pedestrian contact system and a brilliant anti-intruder set up to keep away any uninvited attention.
All in all, the XKR is a brilliant car for the driver who loves quality when it comes to design and performance and has the bucks to afford it.
